HELP is a course for groups of 6-10 people held over a six week period for 2 hours each time .

Based on the premise that no one should face cancer alone CSG is seeking to introduce the course as an alternative to or to work alongside buddying and counselling. It is based on the principles of self-management and support from other participants.

HELP addresses an upward spiral of positivity covering a range of topics such as:

Diaphragmatic breathing

Gratitude diary

Goal setting

Solution focused goal feedback

Managing stress

Mindfulness

Managing fatigue

Sleeping better

Guided imagery

Body changes

Sexuality and intimacy

Communication

Fear of recurrence

Get active feel good

Character strengths

Priorities

Motivational imagery

Sharing successes

Clients often form strong bonds during the course and continue to meet informally to support

each other.

What can you expect from the facilitators of the HELP COURSE?

  • To respect your confidentiality
  • To treat all participants equally
  • To exhibit kindness, compassion and care
  • To advise only with permission
  • To encourage discussion and storytelling
  • To listen more than they speak

What is expected of you?

  • Commitment to attend all the sessions
  • Confidentiality of others should be respected
  • To complete a registration form

HELP groups will be run according to the needs of CSG members, there may be a waiting list until there are enough members to form a group.

At times and according to the need other group sessions can be organised, including grief therapy.
