A cancer diagnosis can also lead to financial problems, being unable to work, having extra expenses such as travel to regular hospital appointments, and purchasing supplements and other aids to help during treatment and recovery can put a strain on anyone's budget.
But for some, who are already on a stretched income this can lead to severe financial disruption.
As a small, privately funded, charity CSG is unable to give financial aid to patients. Where possible we provide cancer care items (hats, wigs, etc) for free, but this doesn't cover all the needs a cancer patient may have.
Help is available to cover your essential needs, this can be requested from the local social services as well the AECC and other charities. CSG can help you apply for this help, but it can take some time to process and sadly it still leaves a gap, there are things that just aren't covered by any of these aids.
Seeing this need CSG came up with the Bridging Fund, a fund designed to bridge the gap, to offer emergency funds until the benefits can be put in place and to help with items not covered by said benefits.
